When a family photo session is also a celebration
My spouse and I traveled to Arizona for a fucking special reason: to photograph our newest niece at one month old!! This wasn't just a photo session - it was a celebration of this new family of four, captured during that gorgeous Arizona sunset.
My in-laws are hilarious, kind, and genuinely fun to be around. Which meant this session didn’t feel like work, but rather more like getting to document people I actually love during an important milestone. That's exactly how outdoor family portrait sessions should feel.
Why milestone sessions matter
One-month-old photos, first birthdays, new family configurations - these milestones deserve to be documented. Not with stiff, formal portraits, but with real moments that show who your family actually is in this exact moment. The exhausted new parents, the proud grandparents, the tiny human who's just trying to figure out what the fuck is happening.
During the session, we let everyone just be. The new parents held their baby. The family laughed together. The sunset did its thing in the background. No forcing smiles or perfect poses - just capturing the reality of this moment.
For families in Seattle and beyond
Whether you're in the Pacific Northwest or willing to travel (like my in-laws who brought me to Arizona), outdoor family portrait photography is about documenting your family as it actually is. Queer families, polyam families, blended families, chosen families, plus size families: all of it. New babies, growing kids, or just celebrating being together.
After your session, we'll create customized artwork for your home - wall art and albums that remind you of these exact moments. Because your family, whatever it looks like, deserves to be on your walls. Celebrating new life, new configurations, and the people you love exactly as they are.
