Will My Outdoor Boudoir Photos Remain Private?
Privacy is one of the most common concerns clients have when considering outdoor boudoir photography. It's completely understandable – these intimate images are not always meant for everyone, but the thought of them potentially being seen by others can be intimidating.
Firstly, at Laura Brooks Photography, I always offer to wear lingerie outdoors with you! We are in this together. And I understand these concerns of privacy and safety too well when hiring for my own boudoir experiences. So, I have created clear policies to protect your privacy while still allowing for flexibility based on your comfort level.
Your Privacy Is My Priority
First and foremost, I do everything that I can possibly think of to ensure your comfort and privacy are top priority in my business. At the same time, everyone has a different comfort level being perceived, so I tailor my services to each person.
Understanding Your Image Release Options
At Laura Brooks Photography, you have complete control over how your images are used after your session through four distinct release options:
Full Release: This option allows me to use any of your images for my website, social media, and other marketing materials (like my blog!).
Selective Release: With this option, you review and approve specific images that can be shared. This gives you control over exactly which photos may be used publicly while keeping others completely private.
Anonymous Release: This allows for sharing your images without any identifying information. Your face may be partially obscured or cropped, or only body images without identifiable marks or tattoos might be used.
No Release: Your images remain completely private. They will never be shared on social media, in my portfolio, or for any marketing purposes. They exist solely for your personal enjoyment.
Your Right to Change Your Mind
One of the most favorite aspects of my privacy policy is flexibility. I understand that comfort levels can change over time. And consent should be freely given AND rescinded without consequence. That's why at Laura Brooks Photography, you can change your release preferences at any point – even years after your session.
If you initially choose a Full Release but later decide you'd prefer your images to be private, I will honor that request immediately. Conversely, if you originally selected No Release but later feel excited about sharing certain images, I can adjust your preferences accordingly.
My only caveat here is that once I post images online or share them in marketing, I can only remove the images I have control over. Sometimes people screenshot images or make videos that have the potential to have your images in the background. While this isn’t common, I want you to have full control over how or if your images are shared.
Building Trust
In order to build trust and know what works for you, we have to talk. This is why the initial phone call is so important to me! I want you to know more about me and I want to know more about you. Then before all outdoor boudoir sessions, we meet in person. Here, we talk accessibility, locations, clothing, planning, and answer all your questions, including talking about image release options.
During your session, you'll always have the opportunity to review images on camera and request that certain images be deleted if you're not comfortable with them.
The Reality of Outdoor Sessions
While I take every precaution to ensure privacy during outdoor sessions, it's important to acknowledge that these sessions often take place in public spaces. We typically schedule sessions during off-peak hours and in secluded locations to maximize privacy. And we always follow Leave No Trace and stay on trail. We are on stolen land so we have to be part of taking care of the land we are so lucky to recreate on.
If being on public land feels like too much of a stretch, I have access to private outdoor spaces. These are offered and discussed when I meet with folks before our photo session in person.

Remember that your outdoor boudoir session is customized to your comfort level. If you're concerned about privacy but still want the beauty of natural light and outdoor settings, we can discuss options like private properties, remote locations, or even outdoor-inspired indoor settings.

At Laura Brooks Photography, the final decision about your image privacy always rests with you. Your outdoor boudoir photos will only be shared according to your explicit permission, and that permission can be modified at any time.
