Why choose outdoor family portraits for your queer family in Seattle

Because queer families deserve photos that feel like real life, not like a stiff, heteronormative “everyone smile and pretend you’re a stock photo” situation.

Outdoor sessions feel less awkward

When I’m outside, I am at my most peaceful. I love listening to the birds, the water rushing or the wind through the trees. I love that I can be part of the gorgeous pnw landscape, instead of a boring white wall.

What I noticed is that folks tend to loosen up outdoors. Kids can wiggle. Adults can breathe. Polyam and chosen families can interact naturally instead of trying to squeeze into one “traditional” pose. I’ll guide you the whole time, but it’s walking, laughing, snack breaks, cuddling, and letting your family be your family.

Seattle’s light is actually your friend

Cloudy “Seattle gray” is basically a giant softbox. No harsh shadows. No squinting. Everyone looks good. And if it drizzles, we make a plan for it.

Space matters for plus size bodies

Outdoor sessions give us room to move and pose without weird “minimizing” bullshit. Plus size bodies belong centered, comfortable, and celebrated.

You get artwork, not just files

After your session, we turn your images into customized artwork: albums and wall art you’ll actually admire longterm. A daily reminder that your queer, polyam, blended, plus size, or chosen family is perfect and you are loved in the body that you have right now.

I photograph families across Seattle, Everett, Tacoma, Bellingham, Snohomish and nearby. If you’re traveling in, hell yes! Let’s make something beautiful.
