Professional Portrait Day

A random day after working out with Kris, I visited Charlie’s Queer Books.

Running out of breath and sweaty from moving my body, it was quite the introduction. I initially offered to gift Charlie some artwork for his walls, but he instead asked if I would be up for doing some professional portraits. Some folks have shared this need with him recently. So obviously I was in! I suggested that we donate any and all proceeds to Lavender Rights Project (LRP) and he agreed. I got the impression that if I didn’t say it, he would’ve. Same page kinda vibe.

Anytime I host an event, I always wonder if folks will show up or be interested. This was no different. I wasn’t sure, but I decided to ask a friend if they were willing to support with holding my laptop. Thank god I did, because they helped the whole experience feel organized, clear, and smooth. My chaotic brain was SO grateful for them.

We ended up having over 40 people show up and I was constantly moving around taking quick professional portraits of folks! I wish I had more time with people, but such is the nature of long lines. Instead of being the middle person of donations, I had folks donate directly to LRP and they were able to share that some of you all decided to donate monthly! Hello!? This is the best community.

Thank you to Charlie’s Queer Books for hosting! You all have the best staff, the most patient and lovely customers, and the coolest bathroom. You all are such a treat to work with and I’m excited to come back for another day, maybe later in the summertime.
