How Much Does an Outdoor Boudoir Session Cost in Seattle?

Outdoor boudoir photography has become increasingly popular, well, everywhere. But with Seattle's stunning natural landscapes, we are provided the perfect backdrop for these intimate, empowering sessions. If you're considering booking an outdoor boudoir session in Seattle, one of your first questions is likely about the cost.

The most important piece of information to consider is what the value of this investment.

Typical Price Ranges

Outdoor boudoir photography in Seattle typically ranges from $400 to thousands of dollars, depending on several factors:

  • Deliverables: Whether you are just getting digital images or investing in artwork, the price can depend on a few items. Most photographers provide digital images, the price increasing if you want more images. Typically, these are offered as set packages. I provide customized artwork for folks, so folks don’t need to choose a package. Instead, we create artwork that is perfect for your home and exactly what you love.

  • Session Length: Most photographers offer packages ranging from mini sessions (15-30 minutes) to full experiences (2-3 hours). Mini sessions can be a fine option for folks who know what they want or are comfortable in front of a camera. However, I personally hate mini sessions; I talk about that more in another blog. I don’t charge for time, but a lot of photographers do.

  • Experience Level: More established photographers with specialized boudoir experience generally command higher rates. A lot of photographers may add boudoir as an option, but many do not specialize in boudoir. This means they don’t quite have a solid list of locations and privacy, a way to help folks be more present in their bodies, or generally have expertise in the trauma-informedness of doing boudoir.

  • Location: Some photographers charge a premium for things like permits, parking or other costs. I personally cover all these necessary costs for my clients.

  • Timing: Peak summer months in Seattle often come with premium pricing due to high demand and optimal weather conditions. Additionally, photo sessions on evenings or weekends will generally be offered at a premium.

  • Value of Art: While you could buy a cheap canvas at Ikea, having customized fine art for your home is invaluable. While I love the experience of outdoor boudoir, too often digital images get lost in our phones. That’s why I love creating visual reminders so every day we are reminded of how incredible our bodies are, how loved we are, and how badass we can be.

To be frank with you, the price you pay depends on what you are looking for and the impact you hope it has in your life. Some photographers charge a nominal fee (think in the $300-500 range), which is honestly hard to see. This means they are likely not making minimum wage for their work. For any photographer charging you less than $1,000, they are not charging you the price of their time, expertise, and value. That might work out for you and the photographer, however, I encourage you to consider this an investment into yourself and the arts.

Additional Costs to Consider

When budgeting for your outdoor boudoir session, keep these potential add-ons in mind:

  • Hair and makeup services ($150-400)

  • Clothing options ($50-limitless)
