Golden Gardens Beach Boudoir: October Waves Meet Total Badassery
Picture this: a Seattle beach in October. Wind whipping off Puget Sound. Waves crashing harder than they have any business doing this time of year. And M, standing there in her element, about to walk straight into the cold Pacific like it's the most natural thing in the world.
She won a gift certificate from Fatlesque last year, and when we started planning her session, she knew exactly where she wanted to be: Golden Gardens, one of her favorite corners of the city. We started tucked into a quiet spot in the park, surrounded by greenery and thankfully surrounded with privacy. The kind of setting that makes you feel like you're miles away from the city, even though you're still technically in it.
Then we made our way down to the beach. The wind was unforgiving. There were literally men working on laptops in the sand (only in Seattle, I swear). But M? She didn't hesitate. As someone who does cold plunges regularly, she walked straight into some of the biggest waves I've seen all year—and we created something absolutely stunning together.
Here's what I've learned doing outdoor boudoir between October and March: the light during these months is unreal. Soft, moody, cinematic. And the people who book sessions in the off-season? They're badass. They show up ready. They trust the process. They lean into discomfort and come out the other side with images that feel alive.
M, you're absolutely one of those people. Thank you for trusting me to create some of your first pieces of artwork for your new home. You brought your whole self to this session, and it shows in every frame.
If you've been thinking about booking a boudoir session but waiting for the "perfect" conditions—let this be your sign. The magic doesn't happen in perfect weather. It happens when you show up as you are, in your favorite place, ready to be seen.
