Whidbey Island Family Portraits

Meet B and D! A cute family who did a recent photo session with me out at Bowman Bay on Whidbey Island.
B and D are an adventurous couple with their three pups. Our original plan was to do tulip photos, but in solidarity with the farmers’ protest for better working conditions, we decided to switch up the location to Whidbey.
I grew up on Whidbey Island, so I know there is so much glorious photo locations to explore. Together, we decided to do family portraits at Bowman Bay to be near the water, enjoy some beach, and get some greenery in the background.

We began with some fun running photos and prompts to get dogs to be involved, but without expecting them to sit still after a long drive. Before our session, we talked all together about what images B and D wanted to keep to remember this time in their life. Both of them wanted some images with all three pups as well as photos of just the two of them.
My favorite way to get couples or lovers warm up to the camera is to ask them questions about each other and the relationships. For B and D, they have such a sweet love. Can you believe they have been together for 9 years?! I know. Their love is so tender. They described their first date, how they fell in love, and how they created their dream life as it is today.
The love and authenticity between them was so evident. Their favorite photo, left, is one of mine, too. After giving a prompt, they errupted into some contagious laughter and giggles. It was so sweet to see how they held each other while feeling such joy.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
