It’s My (Business) Birthday!
My business is a year old!! Where is my smash cake! Okay it was actually August 12th and I’ve been deeply procrastinating this post. But I am so proud of my business and myself so incredibly grateful for each of you for being part of this growth.
I started my business while in grief.
I wish I started my business with an abundance mindset.
Realistically, I was in a very low point in life. I had some very exciting shifts -
I recently had married my best friend and turned 30. At the same time, I was:
Surprised with big conflict in multiple friendships that was a huge wakeup call for how I show up in relationships;
I was burnt out of outdoorsy culture, but deeply missing being outside;
Missing social services, despite completely burning out in 2021;
Feeling disconnected to sex positive community, fat community, and craving a larger community to invest in; and
Desperately missing being creative.
And you know what? When there is a forest fire, there is new growth. Since we are part of nature, we can only embrace the new growth while we grief the loss.
Now enter, my business!
It was the exact right time, even if it felt like the worst possible time. Not only was I eager to meet new folks, but I was invigorated. Investing in my creative outlet reignited my sense of purpose. I was ready to re-start building relationships with people, communities, and businesses that also balance loads of nuance valuing abundance, community, and taking up space.
The rebuilding was happening.
Most importantly - to me - I love the impact of photography! I see healing happen on a level that I’ve never experienced before. When folks see themselves in art, it is literally a visual reminder of how loved you are, how badass you are, how strong, how sexy, and a reminder of a time you felt FANTASTIC about yourself. How many times have I cried this year with happy tears? Countless.

Completed 4 business photo sessions
Partied at 8 Fat Swims!
Created a list of 65+ locations
Clients from 2 states have traveled in - AH!
Worked with 1 international client!
Made 8 times the amount I had anticipated - AH!
Profited in my first year!
And we are going bigger and badder this year. If you’ve read this, you’re part of the community. I cannot explain my gratitude for you all… this has been one of the most challenging and deeply meaningful year yet. Cheers to the next!
