Is Boudoir Worth It?
I kind of fell into boudoir. After I graduated college, I remember a friend who was building a photography business and was able to trade photos for some help. My first experience doing boudoir was doing it outside with this friend and I didn’t know what to expect. I barely looked at boudoir images before our session.

At this point, I had done a lot of work on my body image, my confidence, and working to repair my relationship with my body. There was so much I didn’t know, but I knew that hiding from a camera wasn’t going to help me heal with my body.
Throughout the session, I felt more connected with my body than I ever have at that point. I was able to close my eyes, be fully present, and honestly felt like a full on badass. I have always loved photos, but working with a professional was a whole new level.
While the experience felt like a big moment in my life to reconnect with my body, having the art from that session in my bedroom for years has been the most impactful. My brain lies to me sometimes and I have been conditioned within all the systematic hate to turn on my body. Why do I love boudoir? Because the art in my home is a reminder of how powerful, gorgeous, sexy, mysterious, and beautiful I am. Every day I walk by and get a peak while I’m brushing my teeth or picking out an outfit. Each time I have a bad body image day, seeing myself reflected as art in a moment in time where I loved how I looked, that has quite literally changed my brain to see my body differently.
So yes! I think that boudoir is worth it and I think boudoir photos are a good idea. Because it can be liberating and you deserve to take up that space.
